About Rogue River Sport Fishing And Captain Phil Tripp

I offer unforgettable year-round guided fishing trips on Southern Oregon’s most famous salmon and steelhead rivers. As a USCG licensed guide I am lucky to have one of the best jobs in the world, in one of the most scenic destinations. My 13 years of experience as a full time fishing guide, and 250+ days on the water each year, allows me to put my clients in the right spot to have the best day possible of fishing.

We chase after salmon and steelhead on Southern Oregon’s wild and scenic Rogue, Chetco, Umpqua, Elk, Sixes, & Coquille Rivers. These rivers offer breath taking views while having a great chance at catching a fish of a lifetime.

I provide all the top of the line equipment you’ll need to have a safe and successful day on the water. We will fish out of my custom 21′ Willie Predator, or custom 17′ heated Willie Drift Boat depending on the fishery and time of year.

From kids and beginners to experienced anglers alike, I am a trusted choice when deciding who to spend your valuable time on the water with this season.

Now Booking 2023 Guided Salmon, Steelhead, & Trout Fishing Trips in Southern Oregon

I’ve booked several trips with Phil on many different rivers. His knowledge of the water and the fish is very impressive. Phil comes prepared and we fish hard with tremendous success. At the end of the trip he takes care of your catch and sends you home looking forward to the next trip. He’s a true professional in his craft and it’s always a great time on the water with Phil.

-Ryan Nyseth
Amazing experience. Amazing fish! Amazing guide. Phil definitely knows his stuff. It was below 30*F and we were very comfortable. Heater on board! We fished steelhead (knocked ‘em dead!) and I’m now scheduling Kings.

-Gnene Samford Rineer
I've fished with Phil twice now - looking forward to another trip soon. Phil is the right combination of helpful without being bossy. Knows how to let experienced anglers do their thing, while coaching my kids, too. Unlike most guides who make you feel pressured, Phil is easy going and still hard working. Great all around guide who knows how to put you on fish.

What We Fish For

Chinook Salmon 01 SVG

Salmon

We guide for both Chinook (Kings) and Coho (Silvers) Salmon. These are the largest fish we chase with clients catching Kings over 30 pounds every year.

Season: May through December

Steelhead

Steelhead are the fish that starts the addiction for most fishermen in the Northwest. They are known for their drag screaming runs, and high flying acrobatics.

Season: July through April

Where We Fish

Chinook Salmon 01 SVG

Rogue River

Our home water for the majority of the year thanks to the year round opportunities to catch salmon and steelhead. We guide the Rogue River near the towns of Medford and Gold Beach.

Umpqua River

The Umpqua River is the top producing winter steelhead river in Oregon. It’s also one of the best chances at catching a trophy steelhead over 20 pounds.

Southern Oregon Coast

During the late fall and winter, the Southern Oregon coastal rivers offer great fishing opportunities for fall salmon and winter steelhead. We guide on the Chetco, Coquille, Elk & Sixes Rivers.
